“Getaway” with Murder in Vermont This Mother’s Day Weekend!
The Wilburton Hosts a Hollywood Glamour-Themed Murder Mystery,
Plus Fun Activities for Dog Moms, May 9-11

EXPERIENCE A MURDER!
Perched on a dramatic mountain-view hilltop, the historic Wilburton mansion in Manchester, Vermont, is the perfect setting for an elegant “whodunnit” and an unforgettable Mother’s Day weekend for the whole family, including the dog. Murder Mystery getaway packages, available May 9-11, invite guests to immerse themselves in the era of Hollywood glamour as an interactive adventure unfolds.
Guests can join the scheming stars, dance in top hats and tails, put on the Ritz, take a screen test, compare clues and follow the action through the grand salon, the library and the billiard room of the 1902 mansion at the heart of The Wilburton destination resort. The mystery dinner party extravaganza includes a three-course dinner and cash bar with themed cocktails. Guests will receive a professional portrait as a souvenir of this unique Vermont experience. Prizes will be awarded for the team who solves the mystery, as well as for best dressed.
The tradition of mystery lovers’ weekends at The Wilburton began 30 years ago when innkeeper Georgette Wasserstein Levis wrote a murder mystery homage, The Brothers Rosenblood, to her sister Wendy Wasserstein’s Broadway hit, The Sisters Rosensweig. Her daughter Tajlei Levis, known for writing vintage literary musicals like Edith Wharton’s Glimpses of the Moon, has created new mystery events each year since 2013, inspired by Wilburton and local Vermont history.
This spring’s Mother’s Day Murder Mystery, “The Million Dollar Movie,” is based on the real Hollywood history of The Wilburton, which was once owned by RKO Studios. It is 1955, and the new owners of RKO (famous for King Kong, Citizen Kane and the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie musicals) are holding a secret board meeting at the Wilburton mansion to choose the team for one last movie. Everyone is dying to be a part of it! Will this swanky soiree include getting away–with murder?
The weekend’s additional activities include a Hollywood-themed Friday night cabaret, group dog strolls, and a dog-friendly “Meet the Suspects” Welcome Party. (Dogs are not invited to the Mystery Dinner Party.)
